Overview
We are currently recruiting a Product Manager for a manufacturer who are based in Caerphilly South Wales. You can expect to achieve a salary of up to £38,000 however this could increase for the right person depending upon experience.
The Role
Reporting into the Supply Chain and Commercial Managers, you will develop the product proposition for the nominated brands, you will execute and lead the internal end to end development process (including marketing), focusing on ensuring that brands have a consistent approach and drive commercial performance, in line with sales and margin objectives.
The role has a high level of ownership and autonomy and will require energy, passion and drive to be successful.
- Delivery of insight led, market leading consumer product ranges for all in-house celebrations brands.
- Execution of the development and implementation of all in-house celebrations brand strategies and values, ensuring a consistent approach is maintained across all product categories.
- Lead the marketing and promotional plans, working with external parties to gain exposure and build brand credibility on marketing tools such as social media and the company website.
- Ensure close liaison with other internal product teams (dual site) to co-ordinate product development and sourcing activities.
- Critical Path Management – ownership of all brands from start to fruition.
- Integrate brand data, consumer and market analysis to make and inform brand recommendations including pricing and range decisions.
- Annual completion of the Gap Analysis process to maintain market leadership, identify and share re-engineering product and business growth opportunities with the commercial team and work with the operational teams to establish time frames of any required trials.
- Provide Commercial Director clear and concise proposals and cost summaries for new ranges, based on internal sales data analysis and market research.
- Range development – Generate detailed range plans to share with the creative and product teams including architecture and any fixture plans to execute in given timeframes in support of the commercial selling windows.
- Manage the design and artwork implementation and approval process for all product and packaging.
- Fixture/Carton/FSDU development – working with purchasing & their suppliers to develop cost effective and innovative packaging and fixture solutions.
- Review all pre-production and production samples, providing feedback where necessary
- Drive brand recognition by supporting all product launches with relevant materials and briefings to stakeholders.
- Hold regular feedback sessions with the commercial & creative teams to share NPD trials & manufacturing updates. In addition, gain their suggestions for further opportunities.
- Understand all manufacturing processes to be able to identify ways of driving cost down across all product formats with the support of the manufacturing & commercial teams.
- Attend trade shows to identify new opportunities & suppliers
- Attend external supplier meetings alongside purchasing & manufacturing to give a commercial view
- Attend customer meetings when required as the product expert on your relevant categories
- Sample management – supported by the Product Administrator, ensure we showcase our capabilities internally & externally and represent every product in our portfolio across all 3 showrooms and exhibitions.
The Person
- Hold a degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject would be preferred.
- 2-3 years marketing/product management experience within a similar sector.
- Excellent analytical and IT skills are essential.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate clearly.
- Project management skills and the capability to efficiently operate within a multi-function team.
- Demonstrate ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.
- Capacity to embrace and create change.
- Great team player with the ability to support and lead.
- Flexible approach and willing to work additional hours when the job requires to meet deadlines.
